Bringing the Father to the Fatherless

Prayer Letter - October/November 2013

Merry Christmas to all my ministry partners!  Where has this year gone?  I surrendered to Africa in February 2012 and I am quickly approaching the 2 year anniversary of that date!  I had hoped and prayed I would be leaving for Africa by now, but God has his own timeline that is not my timeline and he continues to prove that I am better off just waiting for his leading and timing.

I began a fairly steady stream of scheduled meetings starting the first of November while I was in Kansas City for a wedding.  I presented at my  “home” church, Tri-City, where I arrived as a baby Christian in 1992.  (If you care to watch my official video you can see it at ) I was discipled there and was blessed to think back on the last 20 plus years and everything the Lord has done in my life since I first arrived there!  I can personally recommend and attest to the benefit of extensive, in-depth discipleship programs and their ability to transform the lives of new Christians!  When you see the newly-saved single mom with a couple of children and a somewhat bitter and lost look on her face, do you think about getting to know her, drawing her into your family and discipling her?  If you do, you may be setting the ground work in the life of a future missionary!

I am enjoying the holiday season with my family during a slow December; however, every activity and memory becomes that more precious as I anticipate leaving them.  A dear friend of mine  who is a Grandmother serving in Peru encouraged me as I face that separation.  She assured me that surrendering to God is creating a legacy for my children, grandchildren and family that only eternity will tell!  Her own grandson is studying nursing so he can join her ministry in Peru.  As people question how I can consider being separated from my family, I remind them and myself that God knows what He is doing.

Pastor Hal returned from a very successful 3 months of ministry in Liberia.  In the picture to the left are the new children of the Bethlehem Children’s Rescue Ministry greeting him.  I am excited to announce that I will be returning with my True Faith Missions ministry partners to Liberia for another short-term trip to Liberia in March of 2014.  Your support will go towards my expenses for that trip.  Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers for this ministry!  Some have asked if we will be collecting goods to take.  We will take some; however, the Liberian government is making it very difficult to ship any goods that we can buy in Liberia.  If you would like to contribute this trip, we will be happy to accept funds to purchase things the children need when we arrive there.

We are now supporting 2 children’s homes, 2 schools, 4 churches and 50 plus children.  If the Lord has laid on your heart to get involved with the support of this ministry, you can visit or contact me for more information!  We continue to covet your prayers for the ministry and anticipate greatly all the Lord will accomplish there through you!
